The Deed Institute like many similar institutions have been able to weather many storms, The start of 2020 had huge promises which were soon interrupted by the COVID 19. We have published 125 publications in 2020 addressing all issues of Youth Employ-ability and enterprise development this was a blessing in disguise during the Lock-down. They say “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. In 2020 we signed 32 MOU’S with institutions across the country ranging from VTC to Universities giving us a very strong reach to every sub-county in the 8 counties that we are active.
We developed partnerships with 89 industry partners ranging from county water & Sewerage companies to cottage industries and events management Companies. This meant that all our students were able to gain quality internships in cities of their choice and improve quality of cultural exchange and exposure.
We set aside over Kshs. 1.2 million to support our Youth to return to college or join Internships beyond their Home Counties. This enabled students from places like Kakamega to travel to Malindi and Mombasa or from Bungoma to Nyandurua, Kakamega to Nakuru and Bungoma to Kisumu or Eldoret.
The Deed institute has constantly worked hard to develop strong partnerships with our training and industry partners this has been reinforced by our commitment to our working relationship with our partners in delivering our programs which include the World Bank, The Ministry of ICT Innovation and Youth Affairs ( MIIYA), The National Training Authority ( NITA) and Micro and Small Enterprise Authority (MSEA) among others. Our Focus is to transform the Kenyan youth through Economic empowerment, Employability and Enterprise Development. It is our hope to expand our vision in 2021 and beyond by improving the quality of our services, support to young mothers and people living with disabilities and people from extreme poverty backgrounds. We hope to ensure that the options given to the young people in life are meaningful and transformative. Our main strategy is developing great leadership and mentorship programs for the Youth.
