Beauty Therapy
The beauty industry focus is on making people feel great. Beauty therapists are experts in facial and body care and have a strong knowledge of skin biology and cosmetic chemistry.
Beauty therapists provide a range of non-medical services customised to a client’s needs. Typical services include facials, hair removal, massage, make-up, lash and brow treatments, manicures, pedicures, and other body treatments. Within the industry there are many opportunities to specialise in a particular stream of treatments such as permanent hair removal, or spa therapy.
The beauty industry is ideal for anyone who wants a flexible and fun lifestyle. Working hours will depend upon where you work. In a salon, spa or retail environment, you may need to work evenings and weekends. If you establish your own business, you will have more flexibility in your working hours. However, you will need to be available at times that suit your clients — which are often outside normal business hours.
